How many physical therapy sessions will I need?
Fewer than most people expect — and the honest answer is that nobody can tell you your number before examining you, so be skeptical of anyone who quotes one over the phone. Because every session at Reclaim is a full hour, one-on-one with a fellowship-trained orthopedic manual therapist, each visit does more, and most patients come about once a week rather than several times.
What moves the number:
How long you have had it. A problem that started three weeks ago behaves very differently from the same problem at three years. Long-standing issues have usually recruited compensations elsewhere, and those have to be unwound too.
What tissue is involved. A stiff joint can change in a single session. Tendon and post-surgical tissue remodel on a biological timeline that no amount of enthusiasm shortens.
What you do between visits. This is the largest variable and the one entirely under your control. The clinic hour sets the direction; the repetitions at home cover the distance.
How much therapist time you actually get. An hour of one-on-one work is not equivalent to twenty minutes with a therapist plus forty with an aide, even though both are billed as a visit. Sessions with more skilled time in them tend to require fewer sessions overall.
At Reclaim you get a plan of care at the initial evaluation with an estimated visit count in it, and it gets revised out loud as things change. The goal is a course of care that ends — not an indefinite standing appointment.
